HappyCo Project - Overview

Absolutely — here’s an expanded and detailed version of the paragraph, giving a clear picture of the project scope, your specific responsibilities, and the impact of your contribution as the risk analysis lead:

As part of a strategic consultancy group project for HappyCo, a U.S.-based SaaS company specialising in property operations and inspection software, our team was tasked with assessing its potential for international expansion into the European PropTech market. The goal was to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the competitive landscape, market entry opportunities, and operational readiness for scaling outside of North America.

Within this project, I took the lead on the risk analysis component, which played a critical role in shaping our final recommendations. My primary responsibility was to identify, assess, and evaluate the key risks associated with HappyCo’s entry into European markets, particularly in areas such as data regulation, legal compliance, competitive saturation, currency exposure, and operational scalability. I conducted a structured risk assessment using frameworks like PESTEL to map political and legal exposure, Porter’s Five Forces to understand industry-level threats, and SWOT to align internal vulnerabilities with external challenges.

I conducted secondary research on EU data protection laws (GDPR), real estate tech adoption rates, funding patterns in local PropTech ecosystems, and the regulatory environments in target countries like Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands. I also analysed macro-level risks such as inflation, geopolitical tensions, and economic uncertainty, and evaluated how these could affect HappyCo’s pricing model and customer acquisition strategy.

My findings were central to our strategic positioning — helping the team prioritise lower-risk markets for phased entry, recommend partnership-based go-to-market strategies, and propose operational safeguards to reduce exposure to market volatility and compliance issues. My contribution ensured that the final proposal was not only growth-oriented but also risk-resilient and grounded in realistic execution planning.
